The Legacy of Mary Magdalene
According to Provençal tradition, Mary Magdalene traveled to southern France around 40–44 AD.
It is believed that she spent her final years in contemplation in a cave in the Sainte-Baume mountains and is buried in Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume, where her relics are preserved.
